How A Regulated Nervous System Generates CONNECTION
Laura Goellner | JUL 12, 2025
In the modern world, one of the most powerful forms of nourishment we can offer ourselves is
connection to others
To our inner wisdom
To something greater than us
In Kundalini Yoga, we recognize that true connection begins within.
When we feel centered, grounded, and open-hearted, we naturally begin to attract and nurture more supportive, authentic relationships in our outer world.
A regulated nervous system is described as "Safe & Social" because we feel open to connection with others & put energy toward strengthening relationships...(the opposite of isolation that is often a result of anxiety, depression or nervous system dysregulation)
You may notice this shift after yoga or meditation- you are more likely to make eye contact, start a conversation, or reach out to another person.
Kundalini Yoga provides practical tools to cultivate this inner connection, especially through mantra, breathwork, and meditation. These practices help regulate the nervous system, calm the mind, and open the heart—creating the conditions for meaningful connection to take root.
Mantra is a cornerstone of Kundalini Yoga.
It’s not just about chanting sounds—it’s about attuning to a vibration that reconnects us to ourselves and the world around us.
Repeating these sounds helps dissolve mental noise, lift emotional heaviness, and open space for connection.
Working with a mantra can be an effective way to shift the nervous system from stressed & isolated to Safe & Social
Sat Narayan - Wahe Guru, - Hari Narayan - Sat Nam
This mantra carries the energy of peace, protection, and divine connection. It soothes the emotional body and strengthens our trust in the flow of life. Chanting it can help you feel safer, supported, and open to loving relationships—both with others and with your soul.
